Personal Care

  • Getting up and / or help going to bed
  • Wash / bath / shower, including getting dressed and / or undressed
  • Oral care / grooming
  • Enabling service users to use the toilet / change incontinent pads
  • Assist to maintain independence and mobilisation i.e. walking aids
  • Use of lifting equipment (all staff are trained)
  • Assistance with hearing aids, correct wearing of spectacles, dealing with communication needs i.e. use of picture board
  • Assist / remind service users about time for medication / monitor and assist as necessary use of sealed medication units
  • Application of creams and ointments
  • Assist with meal and drinks / dietary requirements
  • Provide company for service users / listen to anxieties, general chat and friendship
  • Monitor / observe health condition, needs and changing requirements
  • Report observations to relatives, manager, health professional as appropriate.
